Some good news for Scimitars supporters is that Tom Squires has been back on the ice and is now doing some stick and puck work as part of his recovery from the shoulder injury that his kept him out of action this past month.

Squires suffered serious damage to his shoulder following a collision with the gate at ice Sheffield and he has been out of action ever since. It was thought that his season was over but Tom is determined to play a part in the final Scims game.

The Head Coach will not be taking any chances with young Squires as he knows all too well the importance of full and complete recovery. Squires need not look too far along the dressing room to Paul Jones for an example of Head Coach's caution where injured players are concerned.

As a precaution, players from the Scimitars ENL have been training-up with their EPL counterparts and, as you would hope, the lower league lads slotted in nicely as they have done previously when called upon. But they have their own play-off campaign to tackle and Head Coach and ENL Coach Matt Darlow are on the same page where development of players is concerned, so we can all rest assured that the right decisions will be made when required.

The Scimitars face a GB U18 team tonight, interestingly coached by Jon
Head Coach, so it will be a battle of one mind tonight. No doubt for Jon as he will want to see his young internationals get some quality game time on the ice, but will also want his Scimdog's to be kept fresh for this week-ends Play-off double-header against Slough Jets starting on Saturday at Slough, with the return leg at ice Sheffield on Sunday face-off 5:30pm.

Finally, Paul Jones; Club Secretary Ann Liptrott made a passionate plea to EIHA supremo Ken Taggart earlier this week for the sake of long time injured netminder Paul Jones. Jones has been recovering from a hip injury and has missed the entire season but he his getting back to fitness and is available as back-up to Bowns for the 'back in black' play-off campaign. But, because Jones hasn't played the requisite number of league games, it was thought that he would be excluded from the play-off campaign. Mrs Liptrott made representation to the EIHA and received the green light, so Jones will be on the bench on Saturday at Slough and again at home on Sunday.
