Double-Header Home Weekend for the Sheffield Scimitars

Saturday 6th March - Scimitars v Milton Keynes Lightning FO 7.30pm
Sunday 7th March - Scimitars v Romford Raiders FO 5.30pm

SHEFFIELD SCIMITARS have two home games this weekend and will certainly be looking to take at least two points out of the weekend.

Milton Keynes, League leaders at present, will be fast and furious as always and an energetic game to watch. MK are just 4 points ahead of Slough and cannot afford to slip on any points, so allowing Slough to creep up further.

Scimitars are 1 and 4 against MK in this season's series and it was only less than two weeks ago that Jon Rowbotham's seventh-placed team came away from their trip to Milton Keynes on the back of a 5-2 defeat. The Lightning's previous visit to South Yorkshire saw them edge a nine-goal thriller.

But a chink in the Milton Keynes armour was discovered last weekend when a 4-2 defeat at third-placed Guildford Flames ended their 14-game winning run.

On Sunday at 5.30pm, bottom-placed club Romford Raiders will pay a visit to Scimitars in the last regular season meeting between the two sides. Romford have returned to their physical style of hockey so this could be a bruising encounter, especially as it is a must-win game for the Scimitars to keep their position in the League table.

Scimitars hold a 4-1 advantage in the series so far, the last meeting in January producing their most emphatic triumph when they came away from Essex on the back of an 8-2 victory.
