News Article | 31st March 2010 » New Shirts - by Javelin

As part of the Scimitars sponsorship arrangements with Javelin Construction, Ian and Gary have agreed with Alwynn of Javelin that the Scims will wear a specially commissioned shirt in the game against Team GB on Thursday night.

Having followed and worked with the Scimitars this past season, Alwynn Morris who runs Javelin Construction and just happens to be the Club Photographer as well, wanted to see if he could attract some new big-name sponsors to support the Scimitars for 2010/11 season and he thought of producing a set of shirts to help seal the deal.

These specially commissioned shirts have been design in record time and they are a major step away from the current Scimdog's playing uniforms.

They will also double up as the warm-up shirts for the Play-off games against Slough Jets this week-end so hopefully they will be seen by most if not all of the Scimitars supporters.

Speaking today, Scims Director Ian Johnson said "We gave Alwynn free reign on
the shirt design and I must say that it is rather different to what we have been thinking about. But Alwynn has his own reasons for the colour scheme and I am looking forward to hearing what our supporters have to say about them".

Mr Morris was enthusiastic about the shirts and said "I worked with Gary on the play-off designs and I got fired-up about designing a shirt. I have some contacts who I thought might be able to help the Club next season and so I thought I'd put my money where my mouth is and got the shirts made." He added "I have
already received commitments for 6 of the shirts and so I know that they'll be fine although I must say I am just a bit nervous about the reaction to the colours, especially as it's not red, or blue!"

The Scimitars have had three new shirts produced, including the new 'Back in Black' play-off shirts, these Javelin green shirts and also a spare set of plain "old style hockey" shirts which are free from any sponsorship logo's that are being kept a closely guarded secret.

More details will be announced in due course.
