PREVIEW
SHEFFIELD SCIMITARS
v Manchester Phoenix - Saturday 20.3.10 7.30pm iceSheffield
v Swindon Wildcats - Sunday 21.3.10 5.30pm iceSheffield
After last weekend on the road and a well fought come-from-behind win against Guildford, the Sheffield Scimitars return home this weekend.
These will be the last face-offs against Manchester and Swindon in this regular Premier League season and there should be plenty of action as all three teams strive to take maximum points to establish their final league positions.
Scimitars have not beaten Manchester in the previous five outings and will not wish to concede a clean sweep. Manchester currently lie 3rd in the table but are only one point ahead of both Guildford and Basingstoke, and so will also be determined to keep the wins coming.
Last Saturday's game in Manchester became increasingly physical by the third period, with possible repercussions spilling over into this Saturday's game.
Scimitars, in 7th position, need at least one point from this weekend to fully clinch their play-off slot ahead of the final weekend against Slough Jets, while Swindon are desperate to make the play-offs but are tied with Bracknell on points for 8th place. Their last four games are must-win games and they will consider Scimitars as the easier of their remaining opponents.
Tony Hand and big Jan Krajicek will be in Sheffield this weekend to provide quality entertainment. Both games should be very competitive and feisty as there will be some scores to settle with Manchester and Swindon after recent losses to them, so some exciting hockey is in store this weekend at iceSheffield.
