Sheffield Scimitars v Basingstoke Bison - Sunday 28th February 5.30pm

SCIMITARS will look to bounce back from the disappointments of last weekend when they travel to struggling Swindon Wildcats on Saturday before facing Basingstoke Bison at home on Sunday.

Both opposition teams this weekend are fighting to rise up the league table, Swindon to make the final eight, and Basingstoke in their bid to overtake Manchester who lie just 3 points ahead in 4th position.

The Scimitars will need to be on top form as they take on the Bison who are riding high on the back of a run which has seen them win 11 of their last 14 games, including their last five.

Bison's most recent success came last Sunday at fellow former Elite Leaguer's Manchester Phoenix, when goals from Steve Moria (2), Ondrej Lauko and Shaun Thompson gave them a 4-2 victory.

This is the final contest between these two teams and Scims will be looking to square the series and exact some kind of revenge on Bison, having been defeated in the last two meetings between the sides in Hampshire, with an OT loss earlier in the season. But they will take heart from the last two meetings at ice Sheffield in November which produced 5-3 and 7-2 wins for the home side.

A penalty shoot-out loss to in-form Guildford Flames on home ice and a 5-2 defeat at runaway leaders Milton Keynes Lightning left seventh-placed Scimitars with just the one point to show for their efforts last weekend, but they will hope to add to the three wins they have already enjoyed over Swindon this season.

The last two meetings between the two sides have required a shoot-out to determine a winner, Scimitars winning on home ice 5-4 two weeks ago and also 4-3 at Swindon in December.
