News Article | 18th December 2009 » Paul Jones, laced and braced for return to EPL hockey

Things are looking bright at the Scimitars as news reaches us from Head Coach JR, that our very own Paul Jones managed a short skating session on the ice on Tuesday night during practice. Admittedly Paul was not in full kit, but it's really great to know that he is on the road to recovery in such a short period of time following his operation.

Operations Director Ian Johnson said "When I got the call from JR to say that Paul was getting back on the ice for the first time since his operation I was well chuffed, it must have been really tough for Paul over the last few months, sure he's been around the locker room and on the bench with the boys, but we all know where he wants to be, between the pipes!!"

Paul said after his first allocated 10 minutes skating "It was great to pull on my skates again and take to the ice after such a long time off it, though it felt a little strange at first. I am really looking forward to being allowed to fully kit up for a training session with the team, hopefully in late January, though Ben has been doing an excellent job while I have been on the sidelines"

Paul received news of the requirement for surgery only 3 weeks after re-signing for the Scimitars back in the Summer, and although we know there's still a long way to go for Paul, we wish him well on a speedy recovery, and can't wait to see him pull on his Red & White Jersey and step out onto the ice with his team mates.
