Manchester Phoenix are new to the English Premier League after coming from the Elite League this season and will be bringing some big names into town on Saturday as well as some ex-Scimitars players. Ex-Steelers and sharp shooters Tony Hand (Head Coach) and Ed Courtenay plus tough guy, Andre Payette will be testing the young guns of Jon Rowbotham's Scimitars to the hilt.
The Scimitars, however, have already taken on Elite League Hull Stingrays with a mainly young British contingent, one import v nine imports and only lost by 2-0.
Next up for the Scimitars was last weekend's trip to Fife for a 4 team tournament. Director Ian Johnson and Jon Rowbotham were delighted with the skill and fitness level of their team, who fully deserved to lift the first piece of silverware of the season.
With the remaining imports, returnees Peter Slamiar and Joakim Millqvist, plus newly-signed Daniel Slyk, now in training with a team which is gelling well, confidence will be high for two very competitive games against fellow-Northern rival, Manchester Phoenix.
So, in a high-octane challenge before the League season starts in earnest on Saturday 19th September at home, iceSheffield is the place to be this Saturday, 12th September at 7.30pm for some fast-paced and physical action.
