The Scimitars and Steelers face-off against each other at iceSheffield on Wednesday at 7.30pm for the first of two challenge games with the Sheffield Cup up for grabs. The second game will be held in the New Year, a date has still to be finalised.

This is a great chance for the team and the Scimitars' youngsters in particular to showcase themselves in front of the Steelers, as well as giving Jon Rowbotham another pre-season game to test his team against some tough opposition.

Previous meetings between the two teams have proved to be lively encounters which usually brings the best out of both sides, giving the fans a real treat so early in the season. There's always the banter to keep everyone entertained and with the Elite league just two weeks in and the EPL season just around the corner, both teams will be looking to sharpen their performances as we head towards autumn and the real battle of League hockey.

Steelers GM, O'Connor said "Sure we look forward to derby matches because it's great for the fans of both teams and I know the prospect of a Steelers v Scimitars game will get all the fans talking, which is great for our clubs and for hockey".

We look forward to seeing as many fans as possible down at iceSheffield to support both sides and help the Scimitars Club at the same time.

Tickets are available on the night priced at £10 Adults and £5.00 for Children and Concessions
