News Article | 25th August 2009 » Scimitars v Hull Stingrays - Wednesday 7.30pm

The Sheffield Scimitars take on the Elite League's Hull Stingrays in their first main competitive clash of the new season in a Challenge game this Wednesday at iceSheffield, Face Off 7.30pm.

Sylvain Cloutier, making his debut as the Stingrays' player-coach, will be using this game as a forerunner to tackling the Tilburg Trappers at Hull Arena on Saturday, followed by Nottingham Panthers on Bank Holiday Monday. Hull will be missing just one of their squad, forward Konstantin Kalmikov, due to visa problems but he is expected in by the end of the week.

Likewise, Jon Rowbotham will be using this game to test his players under game conditions and to highlight areas that require more work in trainings. The Scimitars will be without two of their signed imports, Peter Slamiar and newly signed Joakim Millqvist, both of whom will be arriving the following week in time to travel for the Fife tournament. Pasi Raitanen however, will be icing as the only import against the Elite team.

Season Ticket application forms will be available for those wishing to take advantage of a designated seat plus the special offers.

On Wednesday, there will also be opportunities to sponsor an 'Own & Loan' Home shirt of the player of your choice, join the new Supporters' Club, book your away travel seat, as well as watching what promises to be an exciting game of hockey.
