Rowbotham recaptures Butterworth and Brittle as he turns his attention to offence……

Speaking today Sheffield Scimitars Head Coach, Jon Rowbotham, said, "The selection process is going extremely well and I am delighted to announce two key offensive players will be returning for the 2009/10 season, Simon Butterworth and Stuart Brittle".

Butterworth is renowned as being one of the most technically gifted skaters in the league. A high speed player with an efficient skating stride who can turn on a penny due to his explosive style. Buttsy is a high profile player for the Scimitars having played Elite level hockey for the Sheffield Steelers, which shows his pedigree. Butterworth has won numerous gold medals with the GB Teams which is a massive testimony to his qualities as a player.

Rowbotham added "I watched Simon play many games last season and was impressed with his contribution for the Scimitars, therefore I was very interested in him returning. In those games I noticed Butterworth's 'never say die' attitude, which is a great characteristic in all players. He has progressed through the junior academy and I feel he can be a catalyst for success due to his persistent nature." It is clear that like his other signings announced recently, Rowbotham admires Butterworth who linked up well with his line mates last season, producing some cracking and breath taking plays.

Rowbotham classes Butterworth as a direct player who can create great offensive opportunities with his vision and quick thinking. He believes that Butterworth has a great attitude and will not hesitate in giving his all for the team either asserting himself by blocking shots and making important hits, for the best interest for the team. Butterworth has many years of experience and last season put up 31 points, which shows he has the ability to put numbers up on the board, he is likely to be a major player for the Scimitars next season.

Brittle is a highly educated and experienced player at the EPL level having played at this level for many years where he has enjoyed huge successes. Brittle is a workhorse and gives no less than 100% every time he is on the ice and this has made him a fan's favourite due to his honest performances and determination to help the team to success.

Rowbotham says "Brittle has got an amazing engine, failure is not in his make-up and with his strong mindset he is able to win a high percentage of the 50/50 mid-ice battles. Brittle contributed a lot to the Scimitars cause last season putting 27 points together, of which 24 were assists. This proves Brittle is a great play maker who can create great opportunities in all areas of the ice. Rowbotham has held numerous conversations with Brittle regarding next season and say's that Brittle is making great progress with his rehabilitation and will be fully fit for next season. Brittle travelled to China recently to compete for GB Universities but is tournament was cut-short due to a serious shoulder injury.

Speaking about the two new signings, Ian Johnson said, "I feel things are coming together extremely well. Lots of hard work is going off behind the scenes to put the best team possible on the ice for the new season." He added, "I know that our supporters are desperate for news and I would like to assure them that as soon as there are anymore players signed and sealed, it will be made public. Thanks for your continued support."
