PREVIEW 21.3.09

The Copthorne Sheffield Scimitars have just the one game this weekend, against Romford Raiders on Saturday 21st March 7.30pm in the English Premier League at iceSheffield in the penultimate weekend for the regular season.

We are vying with Romford Raiders for 6th and 7th position in the League table and this game will play a big part in determining the final positions for the play-offs, so it should be a feisty game.

Romford Raiders have been transformed since Jesse Hammill took over as Head Coach just after Christmas and have risen from bottom of the League to 6th position by winning the majority of their games since then. Their confidence is high and they have turned over every team in the League since then.

The Scimitars have been under-strength through injury, illness and GB duty but they still managed to gain a great OT win in Swindon on Saturday with a rather depleted squad.

Scimitars' players, Robert Farmer plus Ben Bowns and Tom Squires, are at present out in Estonia representing GB with the U18's in the World Junior Championships and have won both their games so far - v China 16-2 and v Estonia 5-1.

The Scimitars finish the regular season with their last 3 League games at home and will be hoping to have a few players back this weekend to trigger a winning streak before going into the Play-off home and away weekend on 5th and 6th April.
