Sheffield residents are invited to don their foam fingers and face paints this weekend as Sheffield's two universities go head to head in their Winter Varsity Ice Hockey fixture.

The match will be held at Ice Sheffield on Saturday 21 February 2009. Tickets will cost just £1, payable on the door, with proceeds being donated to the Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity.

The fixture promises to be a high energy event, and will also include guest appearances from the Sheffield Steelers and professional ice dancers.

Winter Varsity, which is now in its fifth year, precedes the main Varsity Challenge between the two universities which runs from 22 March to 1 April 2009. The challenge involves 30 sports across 70 separate fixtures and over 1,500 students.
