New-look Copthorne Sheffield Scimitars enjoyed a double success at iceSheffield!

The Scimitars not only secured a 7-1 win over the Wightlink Raiders on Sunday (December 14), but also helped raise around £2,250 for local causes.

Funds generated from the match are going jointly to the Sheffield Children's hospital charity and the club after the Scimitars staged a special shirt auction and bucket collection.

The Scimitars wore a unique red, white and black shirt, which was only produced for the weekend before being auctioned off to supporters wanting their favourite player's shirt - sweat and all, and proved to be very popular!

Another larger than average crowd for this time of year attended the match at iceSheffield after the Scimitars provided two free children tickets with every full paying adult. It was the latest price reduction offer from the club to help make ice hockey more affordable for all.

Ron Shudra, coach at the Sheffield Scimitars, said: "We are pleased to help raise so much money for the Children's hospital and the Club on the back of a terrific win for the team. It was great to have another decent crowd there and the supporters really spurred the team on to victory."

The Scimitars support of the hospital continues the work of their shirt sponsors the Copthorne Hotel at Bramall Lane, who have also chosen the Children's as their charity of the year.
