News Article | 6th November 2008 » Scims sign a Swedish forward
4.11.08
The Sheffield Scimitars' Head Coach, Ron Shudra has decided to make changes to the team and signed a new player in time for this weekend's games. As the Scimitars have had problems in scoring, until the recent Isle of Wight games, but had been fairly tight at the back, Ron has decided that some new offensive threat in front of the opposition's net was a priority.
Joakim Millqvist is a 6' 2" Swedish forward who has played consistently in the top two Swedish leagues for most of his career and Ron feels Joakim 'should help create more and better chances for everyone. He has good speed and hands and will help in the scoring punch'. Ron is hoping that Joakim will be a catalyst for a push up the League standings by the Scimitars.
The new player arrived in England on Wednesday and should make his debut at the weekend. The Scimitars travel down to Milton Keynes on Saturday before returning home to face Telford Tigers and avenge last weekend's narrow defeat. Ex-Sheffield's Davey Lawrence will be between the pipes and their offensive threat will need to be contained if the Scimitars are to take the two points.
Unfortunately the Club has had to release Warren Tait and they would like to thank him for his services to the team this season and wish him well for the future.
Tickets for Sunday's game v Telford Tigers, face-off 5.30pm, are on sale at iceSheffield Reception pre-game and on the night.
Adults £8.50, Child £3.50, Concession £5.00 and family £20.00
