Ron's comments after the first weekend's games.

I thought we had some very good play over the weekend, I was impressed by a few players determination.

Lee Haywood had a solid weekend for us in both games and he showed he is ready to push for a regular top four defence place. Paul Jones had a very good start to the season, barring one goal against Slough, which he didn't see until late. Stuart Brittle worked tirelessly in both matches and was unlucky not to find the back of the net.

We unfortunately lost Steven Wallace in Swindon to a broken blade on his skate in warm up and also Mark Lee to a heavy shot taken off the side of his knee in warm up so we were a bit down at the start of that match. I thought we created enough chances in both matches to win them but at the end of the day it isn't how many you create it is how many are finished that counts. We have a few players that are still getting their skating legs under them and we will be working on the conditioning side of things a bit more as we go along. I thought at times we were a bit tenative in situations but again it is two games into the season and our first teasts in game situations.

For the weekend, although the results went the other way. it was a good weekend for us to see what we will need to improve on. We worked hard in our own end not giving up a lot of chances in the slot which we will have to limit to be successful this year. There is better to come and expectations are running high.
