News Article | 21st August 2008 » Two more British players re-sign

The Sheffield Scimitars are very pleased to announce the re-signing of two more British players, last but by no means least, and which will really please the fans who have been hoping to see these two return.

Martin Birch commented that "James Goodman (Goody) has been one of the backbone players for the Scimitars and the longest serving on the squad, a loyal Sheffield lad through and through, a committed player with a big heart and lots of passion for the game. Goody will be eager to keep up his fitness levels under the watchful eye of new coach Ron Shudra".

Also that "Lloyd Gibson, who has impressed the club for some years now, will also be keen to catch the eye of Shudra and we are sure this young player's talents will continue to grow. He is versatile, capable of playing both forward as well as in defence and he is a good, valuable team player".

Lloyd was part of the Northern Championship U16 and U19's teams and Team GB U18's last year.

Ron Shudra stated that "With the re-signing of Lloyd Gibson and James Goodman our roster is almost complete. We have agreed to terms with both players and are happy they are returning. Lloyd brings determination and a 'never say die' attitude to our club. His aggressiveness and ability to play both forward and in defence gives us many options for him to play in all circumstances.

James has been one of the stalwarts of the Scimitar defence since the early days of the ENL. On his day he is more than capable of playing in all situations, we expect him to be a leader on and off the ice for us and I am sure he will have a great season". James played a major part in helping the Scimitars to their ultimate ENL Grand Slam year and has been one of the senior defencemen at EPL level.
