Ron Shudra began the task of building his new season's squad by re-signing three of last year's top Scimitars players and was pleased to comment on his first signings.

'It is great news to have Stevie Duncombe (Duncs), Ben Morgan (Morgs) and Stephen Wallace (Wally) back in our roster. All three players bring heart and determination to the squad.

With Ben we have a proven defenceman and in my mind, probably one of the top five British defenceman in the country. He will bring skill and dedication to the club just as he has done in the past. His ability to attack will be a major threat to the opposition for us this season. He is strong in his own end and is a great penalty killer as well.

Stevie Duncombe...the Gentle Giant, Not this Year! He has the strength of an ox and the ability to crunch the oposition in half, we saw this in the latter half of the season after getting over a foot injury. He patrols our own zone as if it belongs to him and this season will be a real eye-opener for everyone who watches.

Stephen Wallace, the workhorse. It has been a long time since I have seen a player with the ability to tie the opposition in knots while keeping control of the puck. He is a tireless worker with a gift around the net and this season will be no different. A natural leader on the ice and a great man in the locker room, he again will be amongst the leaders in the league.

On Robert Dowd, who has moved up to the Elite League after two excellent seasons with the Scimitars, Ron said, 'We would like to confirm that Dowdy has been signed by the Steelers for the upcoming season, everyone at the Scimitars wish him all the best and good luck.
