The Sheffield Scimitars are please to announce that Ron Shudra has agreed terms with them for the 07/08 season. He will once more also be donning the "C" on his jersey.

The blue line defenseman is back at Ice Sheffield for another term in a Scimitars strip. He proved to be a worthy addition to the team last season, although he ended up seeing more ice time than was planned when injuries and international duty took vital bodies away from the squad. However Ron proved that he would do all that it took to help a young and developing team compete in one of the most competitive leagues within the sport. He bonded well with his teammates and proved to be a real asset on the ice but also off of it and behind the scenes where the veterans experience paid dividends.

Coach Neil Abel said "Ron is such a steady and dependable player who saw more ice time then was planned last year. But I will be looking to use him in other ways next year along with helping me on the bench when I need that extra pair of eyes. He is a very calming influence on some of the younger members of the squad and for this reason he will continue in his role as captain."

Ron said "My career took on a new lease of life last year when I joined the Scimitars; however I ended up with as much ice time as when I played for the Steelers. This year I hope to develop other roles within the team and I am looking forward to new challenges. The team is shaping up well with only a couple of losses to other teams. When a side does well that is always going to be a problem, but luckily for us the hub of the squad has stayed. I made yet more new friends last year, and my family enjoyed the experience of the Scimitars and its supporters. I am glad to be back.
