The Sheffield Scimitars have confirmed today that the player everyone else has been after is returning to Sheffield. 19 year old player Robert Dowd will be returning to the Scimitars for another season.

The Club was fully aware that Rob had received other offers and was not surprised after he demonstrated what a class player he is out on the ice. The left handed forward also played for Great Britain last season and originally hails from the North East of England. Coach Neil Abel said of his return "I am glad he is staying with us, he is only going to improve, and he is definitely a career player on a learning curve in the EPL. Hopefully he will repeat his achievements from last season and will score a few more goals, especially with the assistance of the experienced guys I am going to team him up with."

This signing has been eagerly anticipated and will end the speculation of Rob's intentions for next year. Rob said "I enjoy playing with the lads at Sheffield and I have made some real development. The ice facilities are great and I have a good relationship with Neil. I also have the added benefit of being able to train with the Steelers which helps with my fitness and all round development. We have a growing fan base along with a team that still has to grow. I would love to win a championship or league title and I feel by staying at Sheffield this is a real possibility. I am also excited to play with new team mates. I know everyone has their favourites, but this is a developing league and it is inevitable that guys move on. I know Stephen Wallace both on and off the ice so it will be good hearing another Geordie accent in the locker room."
