The Sheffield Scimitars have struck again and signed the services of a proven forward/centre player. Matthew Beveridge is a 5ft 10" 174lb player who originates from Toronto, Canada and holds a British passport. He has been playing for the EIHL Newcastle Vipers for the past three seasons where he achieved the status of being one of their leading scorers. Prior to his visit to the North East he played for the Invicta team and also in Paisley. He has been residing in this country for the past ten years and is very settled and happy. Speaking at his home today about his signing to Sheffield he said "I am looking forward to a new challenge and meeting up with guys that I have previously not met before in my playing career. They have got off to a fantastic start to their seasons campaign and have a great foundation. I hope that I can add a support role and score even more goals than they have already."

Coach Abel said of his latest signing "Matt is a great player, and he is coming in to cover a spot that we have. It is unfortunate that we have already secured the services of another player, but Matt is happy to come and cover for us until paperwork can be signed off. The way injuries have hit us this season we may see more of Matt than we currently anticipate. We will also see how the points go, you never know."
