The Sheffield Scimitars have signed ex-Steeler Steve Roberts in a bid to continue their success so far this season. The 32 year old, left winger, Roberts who was born in Saskatoon Canada is scheduled to join the Scimitars line up this weekend.

He last played in Sheffield during the 2000/01 season but it was for the Elite side Sheffield Steelers. Steve has also seen action in this country when he played for the Nottingham Panthers, and Coventry Blaze.

Scimitars coach Neil Abel has been talking to Steve for quite some time and is extremely pleased that Steve has finally made the move to Sheffield once again. He said "Obviously I am extremely glad that a player of Steve's caliber is coming to the Sheffield Scimitars, I have followed his career and know of him from his Steeler and Coventry days. He is an excellent player and will get the job done with the lads and help them get back to their winning days."

Steve will also link up with ex-Steeler Ron Shudra once again. Steve said at his home today "I'm excited as its been a while and it looks like the squad is doing well sitting at the top of the table and I just want to be apart of something special here and hopefully bring a championship to Sheffield in April. I don't know what it will feel like to play across the road from before as it wasn't there when I was. I am sure it will feel weird or different when I actually get there and see it again. I had some good memories. From back then so hopefully I can bring some new ones to the other side of the road."

Scimitars are away in Telford on Saturday, but they are at home on Sunday to the Milton Keynes Lightning on Sunday. Face off is at an earlier time of 4.15pm.
