The Sheffield Scimitars are pleased to announce that they have launched their designated charity for the forthcoming season. Help a Hallam Child has been nominated because of its strong links with the local community and it reflects the aim of the team to help out local children who may not be in the best of circumstances. The Scimitars held the first of their many planned events at their game on the 05/11/06. There is to be a further collection held at their home game on Thursday against the Sheffield Steelers at iceSheffield.

The Help a Hallam Child charity states that every penny raised is put back into this region. We aim to help as many children as possible. These children may be suffering from mental, physical or sensory disorders have behavioural or psychological problems, living in severe poverty or deprivation or suffering distress, abuse or neglect.

A spokesperson from Radio Hallam said "We are very pleased that such a high profile and suitable organisation has decided on joining us with our efforts. We look forward to seeing the results of their work in the future."

With many of the players living and coming from Sheffield it was thought appropriate that a cause such as this should be recognised in their efforts with working with the community. The Team based at iceSheffield has a strong base of children right from the early ages through to the seniors and it is hoped that their efforts may help in some small way.

There will be regular events and anyone interested in finding out further information or joining in should keep checking the website.
