Guildford took an early lead, just 44 seconds into the game, with Plant firing the puck into the net, but Sheffield came back to equalise via James Archer with a powerful drive past Skinns at 3.17. Next on the board was Mark Stewart at 6.44 deking Skinns to slot the puck in on the far side. Early pressure on Guildford net paid off as Stewart scored his 2nd of the night through a players' legs and then through the five-hole at 17.52 to extend the lead to 3-1. However Guildford pulled it back to a single goal just before the end of the period, 19.22, for a 3-2 score.

At 28.09 Scimitars re-took the lead through a second strike by Archer along the ice. At 32.09 Lee Haywood tipped in a shot from his brother, Matt, on the powerplay as Masa sat out a goalie interference penalty. Ben Bowns withstood some powerplay pressure by Guildford at 32.53 and Peter Slamiar tapped in a rebound under the goalie off a Squires shot at 36.39. A 7th 'goal' was disallowed at 36.58 but the Scimitars ended the period in a strong position, up by 6-3 with another 40 minutes to play with the prospect of taking two points off a top team.

Both teams came out fast in the 3rd, with scoring chances saved, however, Guildford raised their determination and aggression which paid off at 45.59 as Rempel let one rip. Lundin went for roughing at 50.06 with Plant claiming his second of the night in a SH sprint to go top corner at 51.27. Smital pulled off the equaliser at 55.43 and despite intense attempts by both sides to claim the winner in regulation time, the game went into overtime.

Despite both teams going full out, penalty shots was needed to determine the two game points with the opposition scoring the winning penalty shot this week for a 6-7 final score and Mark Stewart taking MOM awards. Scimitars young team, with just two imports icing, played well against much more experienced players, but were unable to hold onto the lead.
