A rare mid-week game for the Scimitars against top of the League, Milton Keynes.

The game started well for Sheffield as they took the lead at 4.44 when Mark Turner slotted home a pass from Peter Slamiar. A good penalty-kill by Scimitars at 7.26 and plenty of fast action by both teams.

A chance for the Scimitars to increase the lead on a powerplay was cut short with a short-handed goal after a pass was intercepted by Smulter with Monir Kalgoum having time to deke the goalie and level the score at 1-1.

Slamiar quickly pulled the lead back before the end of the powerplay with three rapid close range attempts of which one finally hit the back of the net at 14.56 for a 2-1 period end.

Plenty of action in the second, especially around Scimitars' net, with Ben Bowns making some excellent saves to maintain the lead. James Archer extended the lead in the final minute of the 2nd period to send the home team into the dressing room 3-1 up.

However, Milton Keynes came back fighting in the third, and Smulter hammered in a goal at 43.29 followed by the equaliser at 45.38 by MOM Kalgoum. Archer restored the lead again at 45.38 but this was shortlived as MK equalised for a second time 49.37.

With several penalties being called against the Scimitars in the final 10 minutes of the game, they struggled to get many chances to put the puck on the opposition net but during the single 3rd period penalty for MK, they scored the winner at 53,31 in their second successful shorthanded breakaway of the game. James Archer was awarded MOM for the Scimitars.
