Scimitars managed to travel down to MK on time on Sunday despite a heavy dump of snow overnight. Disappointingly they came away with no points from the clash with the League leaders as Milton Keynes struck back with four unanswered third period goals in 9 minutes to reverse Scimitars 2-1 lead at the end of the second.

It was evenly balanced in the first period as shots on goal were held down to 5 and 4 respectively with only one penalty each.

The Scimitars broke the deadlock early in the 2nd with a goal at 21.55 scored by Peter Slamiar, assisted by Tom Squires. MK replied with an equalising goal at 25.3 by Nick Poole unassisted. Scimitars retook the lead at 31.54 via Matt Haywood and maintained that throughout the remainder of the 2nd period for a 1-2 finish.

Lightning came out fast in the 3rd period on the powerplay, scoring 40 seconds from face-off as Kalgoum struck the equaliser. The team took some energy from that and began to pile on the pressure in front of Ben Bowns in net. With one penalty ending and another beginning, MK's Lewis Christie claimed another PP goal at 44.37. While Scimitars were still recovering from losing the lead but on their own powerplay, Smulter hit the back of the net on a short-handed attack at 45.58. MK finished the scoring at 49.09 through Michael Wales to take the game to a 5-2 scoreline to prove why MK are top of the league. Tom Squires was MOM for the Scimitars.
