Scimitars travelled down to Basingstoke boosted by the win against Swindon but with Bison on form at present Sheffield knew they had to work hard for the full 60 minutes. With Pasi Raitanen not travelling, Paul Jones dressed for his first game this season following hip surgery.

Mark Stewart put the Scimitars on the scoreboard first, an even-handed goal at 7.54, assisted by Simon Butterworth and Matt Haywood. With Arran Strawson in the penalty box Basingstoke equalised fairly quickly with a power-play goal at 9.11by Lauko, assisted Kieras and Moria. Ben Bowns stood up well to the pressure in goal as Scimitars were outshot 19 to 7, blocking 18 of those to keep the score 1-1.

Lauko's 2nd strike, again on the powerplay and assisted by Kieras and Moria, gave Bison the lead early in the second at 21.53. Bison were able to kill off their two penalties successfully later in the period to maintain their 2-1 lead.

There was no further scoring in the third until 48.58 when Steve Moria was able to bury the puck for an even-handed goal at 48.58. The final score of 4-1 to Basingstoke was achieved with an empty-net goal at 59.09. MOM for the Scimitars was N/M Ben Bowns and Scimitars were thwarted from scoring more by MOM Tom Annetts.

Scimitars next home game is on Saturday, 20th February v Guildford Flames, 7.30pm at iceSheffield.
