On Saturday the Scimitars headed off at 8am to the IOW and were unlucky to lose a game they had led for the first two periods. The first goal of the game was scored by Joakim Millqvist from a pass by Peter Slamiar at 4.55. The lead did not last long and Danny Hughes equalised for the Raiders at 6.29 for a 1-1 first period.

The Scimitars went 3-1 ahead after strikes from Zdenek Sikl, assisted by Steve Wallace and Oliver Barron at 22.16 with Ollie Barron putting the puck in the net from Ben Morgan at 23.05. The Raiders via Adam Brittle retrieved one at 25.10 only for Millqvist to restore the 2 goal lead at 29.04 but that only lasted till 34.31 when Petkoff claimed his first for his new club, ending the period 4-3 to the visitors.

The Scimitars lost the third period and the game as the Raiders began to control the game and increased the shots on goal to 23 with Petkoff claiming his second of the night and despite Millqvist (MOM) getting a hat-trick at 41.44, the Raiders drew level and then scored the game winner at 49.25 for a 6-5 win in a well-fought game by both sides.

The Scimitars will miss Robert Farmer and Lloyd Gibson plus new acquisition, Iain Bowie, for the next home game as they fly out to Spain with the U20's for the World Championships.
