The Sheffield Scimitars travelled down to Romford Raiders on Sunday hoping to revive their away form of earlier in the season and take 4 points out of the weekend.

However, despite the team putting in 100% effort, the second raiding party of the weekend managed to end up with the points, and the Scimitars went down to a team that has won all its games since their new coach, Jesse Hammill took up his appointment at the beginning of January.

The home team were the first on the board at 5.18 when Scott McKenzie got his first strike. Romford were the stronger team, out-shooting the Scimitars and claiming a 2-0 first period after another goal at 15.18 from Andrej Sporina.

The Scimitars dominated the 2nd period following a good team talk and repaired the damage with a goal at 30.58 from Simon Butterworth, assisted Peter Slamiar and Joakim Millqvist. The equaliser came at 35.19 from Millqvist, assisted by Iain Bowie for a 2-2 second period score. Carl Ambler in goal for Romford turned away all 18 shots that the Scimitars sent in to keep the Raiders in the game.

The third period belonged to the Raiders though, despite the Scimitars taking the lead for the first time when they scored at 41.39 with Butterworth claiming his second. However, the Raiders were able to break through with four unanswered goals, including MOM Scott McKenzie notching up a hat trick, before Millqvist pulled one back just before the buzzer at 59.59 for a 6-4 win for Romford. Scimitars Ben Morgan was awarded MOM.
