The Scimitars entertained Romford Raiders on Saturday for their first visit to iceSheffield this season, the last meeting in Romford went into OT very briefly before the Scimitars scored within the first 10 seconds of the puck drop.

For this pre-Christmas game, the Scimitars were back at full strength though with import Patrick Zigibor sitting this one out. Romford have made roster changes recently but Pinnington had not yet iced as still serving a previous suspension.

Great early backhanded goal over the top of Ambler from Peter Slamiar at 01.17 after receiving a great pass from Joakim Millqvist.

Romford scored at 6.09 despite Jones diving across the crease after an odd bounce off the boards which landed to an unmarked Romford player on the far post.

Robert Farmer finished off a shot off the pads of Ambler from Lloyd Gibson at 18.44 for the Scimitars 2nd goal. Slamiar, Millqvist and Butterworth combined for some fast and intuitive passing and the period ended 2-1.

Romford scored early in the second to equalise at 23.05 via Cotton who danced around defence to slot on the far post with the Scimitars giving the Raiders far too many chances.

Scimitars then scored two short-handed goals on the same penalty when Morgan was in serving 2 mins for slashing on Krajicek on a breakout. The first was a lovely goal by Butterworth from Millqvist at 35.45, and the second was via a slapshot by Wallace from Brittle at 36.59 to go 4-2 ahead at the end of the second period.

Both sides were still attacking, with Jones stopping a rocket off Stewart and the Scimitars also driving forward. Slamiar scored his second at 55.20 just seconds into a powerplay on a very neat wrap-around goal.

Butterworth stretched the net from the centre of the zone on his second at 59.22 on the powerplay to clinch two points on a 6-2 win. Robert Farmer was given the MOM award.
