Match Report | 18th December 2008 » Sheffield Scimitars 0-4 Bracknell Bees
Face Off: 7.30pm, Saturday 13th December 2008
On Saturday the Scimitars faced the Bees for the 3rd time this season, with wins on each other's home ice, and Sheffield really needed to break their run of home losses. This aim would not be easy without Peter Slamiar and Stephen Wallace who were missing from the line-up due to injuries.
The game started with the Scimitars looking in control for the early part with plenty of shots on goal without reward and Bracknell looking shaky. This dominance seemed to dissipate after the initial goal by Bicknell at 10.42 and counted despite men in the crease. Bracknell increased their lead with a breakaway goal by Greener at 13.24 whilst the Scimitars were missing good chances or having them saved.
An early goal in the 2nd period put Sheffield further on the back foot and 0-3 down. Already minus two key players, the Scimitars then lost defenceman Steve Duncombe through injury in the second period and were beginning to look tired.
There was no come-back for the Scimitars in this game as they struggled to take control. The Scimitars continued to put pressure on the opposition goal but just could not light up the scoreboard with time running out.
The Scimitars outshot the Bees by 32 to 27 but Annetts made some great saves to keep his shut-out intact, especially in the third. The Bees added their 4th and final goal at 58.31 via Jasik which completed a rather flat performance from the Scimitars. Millqvist was awarded MOM.
