A disappointing away double-header for the Sheffield Scimitars, losing both games by just one goal despite some hard-working performances, but they are back home for a home double-header next weekend.

The Scimitars faced Guildford on Sunday for their second visit of the season missing Peter Slamiar due to injury and with Ben Bowns standing in for Mark Lee.

Shots were traded at each end of the rink before Flames scored their first goal at 3.35 after a pass across the face of the net to Bouz on the back post. As the Flames were killing a tripping penalty Steve Wallace chipped a shot into the net off Mettam's shoulder to tie the game.

Sheffield went down to 3 players after Millqvist was given a slashing penalty retaliating to being checked hard into the boards and Stuart Brittle received a penalty for 'captain's attitude' following an un-penalized high stick to Ben Morgan's face. Guildford scored their 2nd from a shot fired from in front of the net at 13.40, and had several more chances saved in the remaining powerplay.

They scored another just before the end of the first, 19.22, by Smital to complete a 3-1 first period, during which the Scimitars struggled to contain Guildford's forwards.

Sheffield had problems keeping possession at times but didn't concede any more goals in a scoreless and penalty-free second period, despite the Flames still driving forward.

The Scimitars began to play with more intensity in the third, and especially after their 2nd goal, scored at 46.46 by Ryan Handisides, who deflected the puck past Mettam from a blue-line trademark by Ron Shudra. Guildford killed off their 2-man disadvantage and managed a short-handed run down the ice with Ben Morgan picking up a tripping penalty in the chase, which handed Guildford the man advantage as Sheffield were trying to tie the game. The Scimitars reduced the defiticit again to one goal through Stuart Brittle at 59.51 but left themselves only 9 seconds to score another, but the game ended 4-3, with Ron Shudra MOM.
