The Sheffield Scimitars travelled down to Peterborough for the 2nd leg of the Knockout Cup semi-final, trailing by one goal, 3-4.

It was a high tempo and physical game, which was forced into overtime to separate the two teams and had the building rocking. The Scimitars played very well for the whole 65 minutes, matching the Phantoms in speed and toughness and were very unfortunate not to have won in overtime with the goal that was washed out.

Steve Wallace scored the first short-handed at 19.42 (assisted Ben Morgan) for the Scimitars to level the aggregate score at 4-4. After two periods of constant end to end play, Peterborough managed to score at the end of the second period, 39.46 by Lewis Buckman, who then came out in the third and scored again at 40.45. Sheffield pulled one back at 46.42 by Matt Haywood, assisted Stuart Brittle and Jon Woolhouse. Wallace got his second at 51.23, assisted Butterworth and Barron, to even up the score and force overtime with both back-up goalies working hard to give their teams a chance to progress further, facing a total of 99 shots between them, with Paul Jones saving 47 out of his 50.

Peterborough's Lewis Buckman was given a 2+10 penalty for cross-checking James Goodman from behind into the boards in overtime, during which the Scimitars scored the winner, only to have it eventually washed out due to a 'man in the crease'. The Scimitars then had to kill off their own penalty penalty with 1.58 seconds on the clock and James Morgan scored on the PP with 11 seconds left to send the Phantoms' fans wild and into the Final against Milton Keynes. Ben Morgan was awarded the Scimitars' MOM, and the Scimitars now have to return on Saturday to face Peterborough again in a league match, which promises to be another feisty game.
