Face Off: 5.30pm, Sunday 13th January 2008

For Sunday's game, Sheffield had learnt the night before not to take the Tigers too lightly and although some long passes were still rather ambitious with consequent interceptions and breakaways, they were fewer in number than the previous night on the smaller ice. The Scimitars were back down to 2 imports again as Patrik Moberg warmed up but did not ice during the game, and Matt Haywood joined the line-up, with Ben Bowns coming in as back-up netminder to replace the injured Pasi Raitanen.

The Scimitars took the lead at 12.05 with a powerplay goal by Tom Squires, tapped down from a pass by James Archer and was the only goal of the period, despite some good attempts and some nice play by Robert Farmer and Matt Haywood ending in a shot on goal.

In the second period, Telford mounted much more offence with several good early shots on goal but the Scimitars also exerted pressure and extended their lead to go 2-0 up at 28.30. End to end attacks and a good shift by Lee Haywood & Gibson. Brittle had a lovely goal after skating down the boards with the puck, cutting round a d-man before firing home to go 2-0 up. Telford powerplay forced some great saves from Paul Jones when Scimitars had a bench minor, followed by another Sheffield goal at 34.53, scored by the tiniest deflection by Wallace from a slapshot by Haywood inside the blue-line. The fourth and final Scimitars goal was from a tap-in on the back post by Shudra from Slamiar and Morgan at 36.36 during a powerplay. Telford managed to reduce the deficit by one at 37.58, shot high off the underside of the net by Tonks, assisted Dumas, to bring the period to an end on 4-1, a 3-1 period despite being outshot.

Sheffield defended well in the 3rd period, allowing few shots through on goal, though with some fast attacks in both directions, but no more scoring and no penalties in the third period. A great steal of the puck by Dowd after a skilful shift, but shot on goal deflected skywards by a d-man. The Scimitars claimed a 4-1 win with Lee Haywood picking up the MOM award.
