Saturday's game was their first in the Knockout Cup against Chelmsford Chieftains, though it was the 2nd meeting after a loss to them in the League.

Peter Slamiar got on the board at 4.47, poking in a rebound from a Brittle shot. A penalty kill at 9.05 was followed by another at 11.00 during which Pasi Raitanen had to make some good saves and Wallace and Dowd then kept a short-handed attack going round Moffat's net. Whilst Shudra was in the box, a penalty shot was given after a melee around the net. Mattila's goal was disallowed as the net came off before the puck went in, but another penalty shot awarded after Chelmsford protests. This shot went wide but net came off again. Further pressure was soaked up by Raitanen on 19 shots as Scimitars were not looking as sharp as usual.

Raitanen made another great save after an intercepted pass gave Chelmsford a chance, followed shortly after by Raitanen coming out of net to be replaced by Jones at 24.40. Some good penalty-killing by Sheffield before a Chelmsford equalising PP goal squeezed in past the post at 31.39. Dowd restored the lead at 32.30 after a good pass by Shudra to an unmarked Dowd. Slamiar one-timed a rocket shot off a pass by Morgan at 34.47 for a 2 goal cushion. Shortly after, Moffat came well out of his crease to clear the puck from incoming Farmer who made contact with him. Moffat slashed Farmer and then speared him, and after long discussion between officials and captains, was ejected from the game. In the absence of a back-up goalie, this resulted in the 2nd period ending 3.42 minutes early so that a player could be dressed to replace Moffat.

The third period saw Jamie Randall between the pipes and he made an early good glove save from Wallace. The first goal for Archer in a Scimitars' shirt was scored at 45.35 after good possession by Sheffield during a powerplay but with limited shots on the stand-in goalie. Slamiar scored his hat trick at 59.29 to earn his MOM, along with Randall for making a brave stand in net.
