Match Report | 24th October 2007 » Telford Tigers 3-5 Sheffield Scimitars
Face Off: 5.30pm, Saturday 20th October 2007
Saturday saw the Scimitars' on the road again in a game that was tougher than it should have been and were still missing Dowd, Woolhouse and Strawson.
Telford began the game with a 2 minute delay of game penalty due to the previous match over-running but struck shortly after it expired, at 2.31 by Kostolny in front of goal. Scimitars equalised through Morgan from passes by Moberg and Shudra, though Telford restored their lead at 5.37 by Dumas in a blast from the blue-line. Miller gave Telford a two goal cushion at 11.57 on the powerplay, and Paul Jones replaced Pasi Raitanen, who retired with an injury. Steve Wallace's great back-handed flick over Brabon's shoulder in a short-handed raid at 16.46 ended the period with the score 3-2 to Telford.
The Scimitars looked a little more organised in the second. Moberg equalised early on at 21.56 with a great goal after receiving a cross-ice pass from Slamiar and deked round Brabon. The Scimitars then had to kill off two 5-on-3's with the main penalty-killing unit in the box requiring some great saves by Jones. Slamiar scored the game-winner at 37.59, seconds after emerging from the penalty box to end the second period in front 3-4 and some good passing between Slamiar and Moberg caused Brabon to stack the pads and make some good saves to earn him MOM.
The third period saw the Scimitars being outshot by 20 shots to 13, many of them quality scoring chances on both goalies but with no goals conceded until Sheffield added the final goal scored on at 53.03 with Slamiar's second of the night assisted by Moberg and Shudra, and Simon Butterworth claiming MOM.
Telford: Kostolny & Miller 1+2, Dumas 1+0, Armstrong 0+1.
MOM: M. Brabon
Sheffield: Slamiar 2+1, Morgan, Wallace & Moberg 1+1, Shudra 0+2,
Butterworth 0+1 MOM: S. Butterworth
