The Scimitars regained the Premier League's No. 1 spot again this week after an important weekend against 2 potentially difficult teams, boosted by Robert Dowd return from injury, and aided by Bracknell slipping up in an overtime-loss encounter v Slough.

Milton Keynes have caused the Scimitars problems this season after the initial win and shut-out back in November. Sunday's game though, saw the Scimitars' picking up their play and trouncing the Lightning by 8 goals to 0. Sheffield won the first period by 2 goals to 0, with an early powerplay goal scored by Stewart at 6.25 off a pass by Butterworth. The 2nd goal was scored by Millie at 14.14 with a rocket along the ice and into the net. Whilst the Scimitars' incurred no penalty minutes at all in the opening session, Milton Keynes had 8 minutes to kill, with similar numbers for both in the 2nd period.

The crowd were entertained in the first period break by a mini-game demonstration from the U12's, who had completed their own winning League game just before the Scimitars. A 3rd goal was added by Butterworth on the powerplay, (from Stewart & Millie), which lifted the top of the goal netting. A great pass to Woolhouse as he exited the penalty box allowed him to go one on one with the goalie and blast the puck over the goalie's shoulder. Lloyd Gibson, who worked hard all night, was rewarded with a close range rebounded shot from Woolhouse at for the 35.41. A great goal was scored at 37.59 by Dowd, on his welcome return from injury, which caused the Lightning to call a time-out to settle the team.

Milton Keynes came out with more intent in the third, with a complete reversal in the shots on goal tally, with 5 recorded on Hollyhead to 20 on Raitanen, caused by the Scimitars amassing a total of 33 penalty minutes. Millie was given a 5 + game for boarding at 44.99 after both players were chasing down the puck near the boards, causing an injury to a Milton Keynes player and some roughing amongst players. The final goal of the night came at 53.39, scored by James Goodman who made no mistake after he had skated onto a great centering pass from Stewart who had fought his way round the back of the net from a long pass by Woolhouse. Some good defence work by Shudra and saves by Raitanen protected the shutout during the remaining play. Jon Woolhouse was MOM for his 1+2 and hard-working game, and the Scimitars ended with a great result, if a slightly unexpected 8-0 scoreline, though the Lightning did not give up trying to score.

Scoring Details: Sheffield: Mille 2+1, Stewart 1+3, Butterworth & Woolhouse 1+2, Goodman, Gibson & Dowd 1+0, Shudra, Ashton & Towe 0+2. MOM J. Woolhouse M. Keynes: MOM S. Moore
