Face Off: 5.15pm, Sunday 10th December 2006

A more determined Wightlink team turned up on Sunday and the Scimitars found Blais in fine form in net in the first period. The same referee called a similar game with minimal penalties. The only goal of the first period came at 6.40 by Millie, from a pass by Stewart when the Scimitars had made a brief goalie change to allow an extra import on during the powerplay. The Raiders had the run of play in the first period with Pasi under more pressure and the Scimitars could not find the same sure touch on the puck as the previous night.

The Scimitars changed goalies for the remainder of the match and Simon Butterworth (MOM) had a great game, scoring a hat-trick in the second period. The 2nd goal at 29.08 was scored by Butterworth from a pass by Stewart and Woolhouse. Third goal came at 36.02 which started a run of 3 goals in 3 minutes, after Shudra stripped the puck off a Raider and scored with a backhanded shot from a rebound by Woolhouse. Butterworth scored again at 38.28 from passes by Holland & Stewart, and completed his hat-trick at 39.28 into the roof of the net from short pass by Stewart.

The third period saw two goals apiece with a great backhander in front of net by Holland from Woolhouse and Shudra wrapped up the scoring at 50.15, from Brittle and Millie. Goals by Wightlink came at 41.19 by Graham from a solo run, and 49.23 by Coles after some scrappy play around net. Roberts sat out the 3rd period to rest an injury and the third line played well with several shots on goal. Woolhouse had a hand in four of the goals and Brittle had two good games on his return from injury. This was much needed 4 point confidence-builder for next weekend's games against Bracknell and Guildford, with Morgan, Towe & Dowd in Turin with the GB U20's and Turner still out from Saturday.
